Description

The Museum of Chlemoutsi Castle takes us back in time, and, more specifically, to the age of knights. Housed in the inner courtyard of the archaeological site of the same name, it is an authentic museum space, which houses more than 500 objects dating from the 13th to the 15th century AD.

A tour of its halls is enough to get to know the very interesting and exceptionally critical historical period of the Frankish Principality of Achaea, as well as the broader context of the years of Knighthood in the region.

The museum includes five large sections, with important exhibits, such as sculptures, architectural parts, vases, coins, etc., while the collection of medieval pottery is excellent and the richest in Greece. The museum also has an archaeological office with a study area, an archaeological storeroom, and a modern workshop for the conservation of ceramics, coins, stones, frescoes, medals, and glass objects.
